AVIS - the worst A friend and I rented a car from Avis for tw days in Bari. Unfortunately during the drive he received a call and pulled to the side to take it. As he did this he scraped a plastic wheel trim against the pavement. When we came to check the car back in we were told that both passenger side wheel trims had been scraped and the cost to replace them - 290 Euros!!! This made a total rental charge for two days of around 530 Euro! Apparently these plastic wheel trims were priced by Avis at 43 euro each, there was a processing fee of another 42 euro but the kicker was that we were charged 102 euro for 'Vehicle idle time' for a job which would take at most twenty minutes - the wheel trims were pull off push on types - and then on top of that Avis added a further charge of around sixty euro which Avis called an airport surcharge because of the damage!! Car rental companies have a reputation for fleecing their customers at every opportunity - AVIS are top of this list.

Shocking pick up service at Heathrow… Shocking pick up service at Heathrow Terminal 5 . Waited over 20 mins at Terminal for a bus to take to car rental area off site and when it arrived there was not enough room. Other car rental companies had 2 buses arrive and depart in same period !! Regular occurrence with Avis and they cannot manage a key area of their business and now we just go book elsewhere . So much for their “preferred service”

Bald tires on THOUSAND mile plus family trip BEWARE. Rented a Lexus FROM AVIS. Upon return, shown that TIRES were BALD. Wonderful agent concerned that I was given car in bad condition. Informed me he could not rent this car again until tires replaced. I was SHOCKED and SCARED that I put my FAMILY AT RISK on an over THOUSAND MILE roadtrip to Orlando, FL. When I informed AVIS, they,replied,"Sorry, we took a days rental off." $44?! So, if my family were involved in a catastrophic accident due to bald tires would it have been 3 days deducted?! Oh! Then when car was EXCHANGED not returned, I was levied a $90 gas charge though tank was NOT empty and I'd asked the agent BEFORE exchanging. She replied that it was not a problem. WORSE CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE. Thank GOD my family was not harmed. Be warned. I certainly was. STAY AWAY FROM AVIS. YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE WORTH MORE THAN $44.

Do not waste your time on this company. Do not waste your time on this company. I prepaid for a rental in Seattle to be picked up at the cruise port, was on the phone pre trip for 45 minutes with a lady that double checked to make sure we would be picked up. When our ship arrived I called the Number to be told they didn't pick up at the port and we would have to take a cab to there location to receive the car. So no I am not paying 50 dollars for a cab to get the car when I can pay 50 to the hotel and use free shuttle. Now having a hard time getting my money refunded they broke the contract not me I have emails stating they will pick up at the port. Do not use this company they do not tell the truth and cost way more money than you think.

Avis making illegal charges to your credit card I have been Avis customer for many years, since 2007, every time that i rent a car i used to thought in Avis, My mindset changed last week when i got a letter from Avis asking for USD 400+ due to Smoke Smell. I rent this car to drive around Texas, i visited some friends in Houston, San Antonio and South Texas, i drove the car all the time, and all the time i was with my wife and two teenager girls. I felt rip with this charge to my credit card, i called and explain that i never smoke and i was all the time with my family, that is impossible that the car smoke smell, but the customer service insist that they found cigarettes on the car. Im really disappointed, i believe that Avis did not clean the car well before handover to me otherwise their service contractor is not saying the true and trying to get money illegally and somebody in AVIS is taking advantage of this situation. I asked to talk to a manager but they asked me to wait for the call. a day later i got a letter saying they will charge to my credit card. I will report it to my account manager, i work for international company, i will make sure that they know about this incident, this is very embarrassing, Happily I will share this with my friends to make sure Avis dont steal their money like they illegally did with me, this is a shame. I hope AVIS investigate what is going on with their crappy service,
