IEBeware of Avis scam These are dishonest people. On way to a funeral not far from East Midlands England and pre-hired a car only for named driver to miss flight. So I ask for another car, got quote and signed based on quote. Got billed and double the quoted charge (witness in office when quoted). Queried with Avis and basically said you didn't understand the charge. The double cost stands. So beware when dealing with these Avis car hire - no empathy only greed.

GBI DO have reservations about Avis Ever wonder what the difference is between making a car rental reservation and just walking up to the Avis counter? At Avis, there apparently is NO difference. Avis can (and just did) call you up in mid-flight to tell you that when you land, you won't really have a rental car available. The agent took it to the next level by leaving me a phone number to return her call. The phone number was to Budget Car Rentals. Avis 3401 SW 11th St -Ste 10 Lawton, OK-73501 Long story short, Enterprise Car Rental was able to save the day yet again. I should have gone to Enterprise first but they weren't an option on the American Airlines reservations site.

GBThought I would try Avis at the Salt… Thought I would try Avis at the Salt Lake City airport, worse wait ever, only 2 staff working, 30 waiting in line and no movement.

GEGood experience with Avis at Oslo airport Despite some bad reviews, I'd rented an SUV in Avis at the Oslo airport and was completely satisfied. Nice car, good service, no lines, no hidden charges. Everything was great.

HUAVIS - the worst A friend and I rented a car from Avis for tw days in Bari. Unfortunately during the drive he received a call and pulled to the side to take it. As he did this he scraped a plastic wheel trim against the pavement. When we came to check the car back in we were told that both passenger side wheel trims had been scraped and the cost to replace them - 290 Euros!!! This made a total rental charge for two days of around 530 Euro! Apparently these plastic wheel trims were priced by Avis at 43 euro each, there was a processing fee of another 42 euro but the kicker was that we were charged 102 euro for 'Vehicle idle time' for a job which would take at most twenty minutes - the wheel trims were pull off push on types - and then on top of that Avis added a further charge of around sixty euro which Avis called an airport surcharge because of the damage!! Car rental companies have a reputation for fleecing their customers at every opportunity - AVIS are top of this list.
