Never again, bunch of scumbags This company is super deceptive about its hidden fees, which ended up almost doubling the price I was quoted. When I questioned some of the fees, like a "stadium fee" after the fact (was never at a stadium), I was told it was required by AZ state law. If that's the case, include it in the quoted price, dipshits! So pissed. Never again.

PLEASE BEWARE PLEASE BEWARE! I do not recommend that you rent from NU Car Rentals/Horsepower Car Rental. When I booked the reservation online, my initial total was $36.10 in March of 2024. I did not purchase the online insurance because my personal car insurance covers all rentals. It is necessary to note that I have NEVER had a problem with ANY car rental companies accepting my insurance. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the rental counter, they stated that they only accepted specific insurance that did not include mine. Within a few minutes, my rental jumped from $36.10 to $196.55! This pricing difference left me feeling swindled and aggravated. After speaking to my insurance agent, he also confirmed that he has never had an issue utilizing this insurance with a car rental company. NU CAR RENTALS/HORSEPOWER CAR RENTALS IS DECEPTIVE AND A SCAM! Save yourself the frustration and rent elsewhere.

Hidden fees and geo restriction… Hidden fees and geo restriction up-charges are not clearly delineated when booking. Shuttle from airport took almost one hour.

Thank you NU Car San Diego! We went through an online travel company and part of our package was a rental car through NU Car Rentals in San Diego. We were skeptical at first as we've never heard of this company. I was impressed. Check in was great. The customer service I thought was awesome. The gentleman that waited on us was more than friendly, went out of his way to assist us by answering any questions or concerns and we were in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. I added their car insurance myself with no pressure from them, decided I didn't need it and called them the next day and they removed it. I definitely will use this company again.
