GBHidden costs & inflexible Hidden costs (e.g. mandatory insurance, overpriced required locks, rate changes)....accommodating while moving in (e.g. cheap truck usage), but not possible to use the truck that never moves while moving out & after spending thousands with them....poor unit access to any medium to large truck....snotty management. Doubt I would ever use them again.

GBYOU STINK! West Des Moines, IA location West Des Moines, IA If you're looking for OUTSIDE storage, keep looking. They advertise being well-lit, and secure; that is a joke. After our toy-hauler was broken into we asked about the cameras....answer was, oh, sorry we don't have them or they weren't working in the area we rented. I'm writing this while "on hold" for their SureSmart/Great American Insurance customer service; 20 mins and holding. I detest companies with "America" in their name that have horrible service, do better or get out of business!

GBDo yourself a favor and don't rent from CubeSmart! I had four cubes rented from the CubeSmart location #4309 in Katy, Tx. for several years. Due to medical bills, I got behind on my payments, and lost two of my units through a lien auction. I own that. My responsibility. Texas Law states that all proceeds from a self-storage lien auction go to the original owner of the properties, which is me. These auctions were on 03/15, with one unit selling for an excess of $5500 and another selling for an excess of over $15,000. Fast forward 30 days and all I have received from CubeSmart is lies and excuses. The Property Manager, Toni Thompson, first said that CubeSmart would keep all excess funds because, and I quote her, "We need the money". I escalated my complaint to the District Manager Douglas Johnson, who told the property manager on a conference call with me that she was wrong and that I was owed all excess funds. Since that time, nothing...and getting a call back from Douglas Johnson is almost impossible. When he does finally return a call, he acts as if he knows nothing. I finally received an email from CubeSmart Corporate on 03/25/2024 that the smaller check ($5500) had been mailed. That was 21 days ago and still nothing. I asked Mr. Johnson for tracking and he said that CubeSmart would simply mail the check in a regular envelope with a stamp on it to save money. So I have now lost my property and the excess funds from the sale of the property. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from any CubeSmart location. They are horribly overpriced, the facilities are average at best, and the employees are rude, arrogant, and ignorant to the laws. The entire business is a sham and a bunch of crooks.

GBExorbitant frequent rate increases For the past three years CubeSmart has been raising the rent exhorbantly every 6-12 months. Roughly 3 times the rate of inflation. Greed is the only reason for increases of this magnitude. I will move out just because of this. I had even asked about rate increases upon signing. Their response was small and infrequent which was a lie. No wonder they would not provide longer term contracts. My advice is find a different provider.

GBFour months ago I rented a storage unit… Four months ago I rented a storage unit at the CubeSmart in Aransas Pass, TX at a rate of $113/mo for the first 4 months. After that the rate was supposed to increase to the normal rate that was 35% higher. Yesterday I received notice that the new rate is $250/mo—135% higher! I called the site manager in Aransas Pass who said it was a corporate decision and nothing could be done. Clearly, CubeSmart is running a bait and switch operation suckering people like me with a low introductory rate then sticking it to us. Do not rent from these unethical slime balls.
