GBSaying thank you I have had my Knifesmith forge for some years now. I want to say thank for the great product that has not only allowed me to turn out some nice knifes but also provide hours of fun and enjoyment doing it with my my kids, grandkids and other friends.

GBI definitely recommend Mathewson MetalSmith products I definitely recommend Mathewson Metals. Shipping was quick, forge arrived in good condition, easy to assemble and operate. Doesn’t burn a lot of propane; a tank lasted me about 6 hours of forging at high heat. I bought the MetalSmith model. My only cautions are that it’s pretty small, so if you want the option of working on bigger projects you may want a bigger forge with a bigger door. Also, it’s a single burner, and I haven’t been able to achieve forging heat on mild steel.

GBNice forge and even better customer service Product arrived pretty beat up, box looked like the UPS guys kicked it around the truck, surprisingly nothing major was broken just a couple small pieces. Sent them an email with the problems and got an immediate response to fix the problem even though it’s was broken by UPS during shipping. Forge was well built and looks like it will last for many years to come. Great product with even better customer service you’d be making a huge mistake not choosing this company.

GBI live near this shop (even took a… I live near this shop (even took a smithing class here), so I got to see the forge before I purchased it. Works great, I can get three sessions of about 4 hours each on a 4.5 lb tank of propane. Got “upsold” to the MetalSmith forge (was going to get the Knifesmith), glad I spent the extra money. One thing to be aware of, the Metalsmith needs to be heated up the first time to make sure the cement is fully cured and then allowed to cool prior to first time use. This is an important, yet frustrating step meaning your new toy will take an extra couple of hours to be really useable.

GBGood purchase. Forge arrived in good condition only one bolt was bent. Lights easily, heats metal to working temp 10-15 minutes starting at 30°-40° ambient temp. Pleased with fuel usage, keep turning it down the longer it is on.
