I definitely recommend Mathewson MetalSmith products I definitely recommend Mathewson Metals. Shipping was quick, forge arrived in good condition, easy to assemble and operate. Doesn’t burn a lot of propane; a tank lasted me about 6 hours of forging at high heat. I bought the MetalSmith model. My only cautions are that it’s pretty small, so if you want the option of working on bigger projects you may want a bigger forge with a bigger door. Also, it’s a single burner, and I haven’t been able to achieve forging heat on mild steel.

Great product Great product. Nice stainless steel flare segment for longer service life. I might have liked a one sheet info page guiding user to: A) check product before operation for assembly remain intact after shipping - my jets had shifted and off center - required recentering. B) recommend test firing in vice ... Explain adjustment of choke -- Direct consumer to your website where there's a nice video. C) Advise placement location and depth in forge. You may also want to include plug for other products you have that may benefit user. I did go out And get LP.gas pressure gauge to compare flame burn to gas pressure ... Just education for myself. You may make these and fittings available to users. I did talk to Mike once on some of these topics and he was very nice, very helpful. I'd definitely do business w them again.

Fine product The forge worked very well, and will work better as I tweak it for my needs. It took longer to heat up than I expected, until I readjusted the flame as per instructions in the online video. Then it heated beautifully, and I heat treated two blades prior to tempering, and annealed two other files to become billets for future knives. Service was excellent. My packaging was solid. My product was solid. Since I am almost 75 years old, I probably will not be buying another forge, but if I do, it will be another one from Mathewson. Frank L

Do it! You wont regret it I have made 2 purchases from here, first was a metalsmith forge (a great forge by the way, quality burner, and excellent design of both). I made a video review of the forge but cannot figure how to upload here. I will put on youtube and update with link later. In the meantime, reasonable prices, quality products....so do hesitate.

I have been making knives and edged… I have been making knives and edged weapons for some time but I relied on other people for hardening. I decided to take the next step and build a forge for myself. I found your combo burner / regulator set up and it was inexpensive so I gave it a try. I am very pleased with the quality, construction, and performance and i would recommend these products for anyone interested in this hobby.
