About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. Over the years, we have reached and serviced more than 2 million musicians through various platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, our email newsletter, free lessons, comprehensive paid courses, and a personalized coaching program. Hear & Play Makes My Goals Attainable at a reasonable price I learned to play the keys for churches by ear in small African churches that played contemporary Christian music and Nigerian praise. I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge and tool belt that hear & play is helping me fill! I always wished I could learn to play like gospel and r&b pianists but now it’s attainable!

They do not disappoint! If you want to learn how music really works and how to play the kind of gospel music that you probably heard in church one time, this is the place! You will learn to become a gospel musician and be able to play what you hear. But make no mistake. When you learn these skills, they will apply to all kinds of music.

I was disappointed with the way discounts were offered and I was charged thousands over the years. I haven't learned or advanced at all.
