About Hear and Play Music

At Hear and Play Music and the Gospel Music Training Center, our passion is helping musicians worldwide unlock the art of playing the piano by ear. Founded in 2000 by Jermaine Griggs, we have dedicated decades to teaching the dynamic skill of understanding and interpreting music through ear training, music theory, and recognizing patterns. Our focus is on soulful music genres that best express this art form, including gospel, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, and pop. We believe that playing by ear transcends traditional music learning methods, allowing musicians to experience and express music in a deeply personal way. Our specialized approach teaches students to hear recurring themes in songs and interpret them creatively on the piano. I love the interaction between the… I love the interaction between the coaches and students. I believe there needs to be more ear training. I came into the program thinking we were going to learn mostly how to play by ear. Although I appreciate what I have learned, learning by ear is mostly why I participated in this program

With a world renowned Professor of Music that can teach, simplify, and take you to your next musical level. With a family of musicians that are also willing to practice with you. Until you get to where you want to be as a professional musician. I would encourage anyone to just try it for 6 months. You will see amazing results

I really enjoyed hear and play’s “play for your church in 30 days … I really enjoyed hear and play’s website. The website is truly a godsend if you are interested in learning a music system that can help you play any song, especially gospel music. Carl is a great teacher. I have purchased teaching courses from other musical websites but none like this one.When it comes to understanding what you are playing this system called the number system actually gives you the building blocks for growth if you really want to play.

My Appreciation The material covers a vast range of information. And questions were responded to in a very short time. This is to work on at your own pace, but diligence in studying and practice is a must. Hear and Play often offers more in-depth lessons. I have been a member since 2019 and I appreciate the work Jonathon, Jermaine, Dr. Onya, and their support team have put into this program.

I believe I will eventually be able to apply the concepts I was encouraged by seeing the recital. I’m still struggling because I can’t write out the notes fast enough to practice the riffs, ups and downs techniques for each progressions. I am visual and learning to be audible. I want to purchase that technology that I’ve seen clients use to help with a particular song. “Mixiology and transformer.
