False advertising, liars Completely false advertising like Turbo Tax. Nothing is free and they should be sued. I had to pay to file my state taxes. Filing a dispute with my bank. In response to their response. I already contacted you and you didn’t provide any resolution. As stated, I am filing a dispute with my bank.

I used FreeTaxUSA for the first time… I used FreeTaxUSA for the first time this year. When compared to its competitors, I found it very easy to navigate and very affordable. My tax return has been accepted and I hope the process remains as smooth as it has been. I definitely recommend it.

Used this website for two years and it worked perfectly! I used freetaxusa.com to electronically file my federal and state of Illinois income taxes for 2022 and 2023. It worked extremely well and both returns were filed at no cost to me. The online program allowed me to edit information I had forgotten to enter, which saved me from having to start over. This free version takes you directly to your state tax screen once your federal forms are completed. They sent me a text, within 15 minutes of filing my federal return, to let me know the IRS accepted my 1040 return. It was pretty easy since I had my 1099 forms in front of me for the federal return, and my property tax form available to provide the amount I paid and the property number for the state return. I only had to answer a few more questions to "sign" the forms. It took me about two hours to complete everything, given that I am old, cautious, and slow completing online forms. They even gave me the option of editing the forms after they had accepted them. I haven't tried any other free filing programs and I won't, since this program worked perfectly. I highly recommend using this website to file your federal tax return at no cost. Once that's filed, they will tell you whether they will also file your state form for free, as they did for me.

"Free" isn't really free! Look before you leap! If you need support, no matter how simple, you have three choices: free email which never gets answered, chat for $7.50 or Pro for $49.99 (presumably someone who can spell gouge! Once your return is filed you NO LONGER have access to the forms, only a PDF with a bold PREVIEW COPY DO NOT FILE splashed across each page. ANY correction requires their support - you're prohibited from making any changes once the return is submitted. Misspelled your middle name, typed a wrong digit, wrong PIN? Pay up! And, if you have to resubmit you have to pay for that as well. The biggest issue I have is that once your return is filed the return is NO LONGER AVAILABLE for review, copy or print. Why? The files are NOT SAVED ON YOUR COMPUTER! In other words, you no longer have a record of your return. They have all those forms and you can't have access - no matter that they have all your personal and financial information on them. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! Presumably, all that information is on THEIR STORAGE - no matter that it's encrypted. At least I hope it is because they would be a prime target for cyber thieves. H&R Block, TurboTax, et al save clear copies of all forms on YOUR computer and you have free access and can even make changes at will. Need to amend a return - no problem. Sure you pay for the re-filing online BUT you could also just mail the return in at NO COST except the stamps.

I used the site for years but be… I used the site for years but be careful if you relocate, the site becomes more complicated to use. They will save your previous state and you must delete it BEFORE filing or you will be charged for the filing of BOTH states (your new and old one) and no you can't delete it through an amendment. Who knows could cost a huge refund from your new state, i think its wrong that they refused to refund me, I think this is my last year using the site.
