GBFree Filing This is what it says on the IRS website. Somewhere there is a disconnect between FreeTaxUSA and the rest of the online world. FreeTaxUSA you might want to talk to your Marketing Department about this and either make the correct changes so tax payers aren't mislead, honor the deal they came to your website to redeem until they do so. I could see if only one person said they were told that it would be free, maybe it was a mistake but when multiple people are saying that it was supposed to be free and then you want to hold their tax forms hostage basically until they pay isn't a business practice I'd ever want consider. Its not right. Anwyays, see below: IRS Free File Program delivered by FreeTaxUSA® AGI $45,000 or less Age Any Federal Return Free in all states State Return Free in all states EITC Included if AGI criterion is met Military Pay Included

GBI used the site for years but be… I used the site for years but be careful if you relocate, the site becomes more complicated to use. They will save your previous state and you must delete it BEFORE filing or you will be charged for the filing of BOTH states (your new and old one) and no you can't delete it through an amendment. Who knows could cost a huge refund from your new state, i think its wrong that they refused to refund me, I think this is my last year using the site.

GBI jumped the turbotax ship... Longtime turbotax user here. Until yesterday. I jumped the turbotax ship at the eleventh hour (everything was input, I was all set to file despite being somewhat aghast at the steadily increasing service fee). My buddy sent me a text saying he finished filing. I asked what service he used. He said freetaxusa for 14.99. I immediately hopped on board and found it to be a friendly, seamless interface, all my numbers lined up with turbotax. Very glad I found freetaxusa. By the time I bailed on turbotax, the fee had reached nearly $180.

THWhat a great online experience What a great online experience. Especially after leaving crappy Turbo Tax mad and frustrated. Those guys should take their cues from this company. It's simple, to the point and you can get through it quickly. Thanks again guys for making my tax filing free and easy.

GBScam and won’t refund my money. Scam and won’t refund my money. I did my federal taxes based on zero income in 2023, the software then prompted me to pay for state taxes. Knowing I made 0 in 2023 I don’t understand why the system would prompt me to do my state taxes which apparently aren’t necessary if you’ve made ZERO income. Then charge me doing state taxes when my federal had $0 income. At the end of the process the software tells me they can’t e-file federal or state. To top it off customer service has not issued a refund for taking my money to do NOTHING. There was NOTHING to prepare because there was ZERO income. Complete scam. Response to FreeTax USA reply: your website does not properly distinguish that you have multiple websites. I went to the “FREE” site, there was no indication of a “commercial” site. Again you charged me for absolutely NOTHING - your site did no preparation because I had 0 income, the state taxes were supposed to be free, nor did your site e-file anything. You literally provided NO service. As I said before I did not use anything from your site because it was utterly useless. I shouldn’t be held accountable for your softwares “assumptions.” Shady business practices and with scammy software “logic” built off of “assumptions,” deceptive UX patterns built in, and a deceptive name of “Free” Tax USA.
