Overall a good site Overall a good site. One problem I do have is on occasion it will list TWO sets of parents. One listed as "preferred". Looking for FACTS not multiple "possible" parents listed. Lot of dead ends I was hoping to clear up. No more information than every other ancestry site. Made the mistake of starting a family tree on family search. Tree went under my father, not me. I am listed individualy, no link to family. Look up how to delete person, "from the drop down menu...". THERE IS NO DROP DOWN MENU ON THE PERSON PAGE. How do I merge? "From the drop down menu...". MULTIPLE PEOPLE have left feedback on the site about problems with or deleting tree, CAN'T DELETE. CAN'T make changes. Like I said, overall lot of good information. Many times sources are listed, which is WHY I like the site better than most. But FAR from perfect!

I thought this was a great website that… I thought this was a great website that led me to ancestors I never knew about until....... I followed several lines of my supposed ancestors including Kings and Queens of England, France and Spain and countless other royalty all the way back to Julius Caesar. It became suspect at the very least. The complete deal breaker was the line that showed I was descended from the marriage of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. This is a disgustingly dishonest ripoff. I feel ashamed to even give it one star.

Lied About My Family Tree I used to like the site until they turned into liars and frauds. They sent an email to me on March 13, 2023 stating i was related to George Washington. The instruction was to click again to see how. It then said I was an eighth cousin once removed and provided my family tree as supporting evidence. I told my grandkids, who were naturally excited and wanted to tell their friends, but their mom suggesting holding off until further verification. I could not find any and a few days letter, followed up with Family Search and was told I was not related to George Washington at all. They had faked the name of an ancestor on the family tree it turns out. What was gained by them for such blatant lying, I have no idea. I will never trust them again for anything.

Best Free Online service you can use As a 10 plus year member there is no better free genealogy research site out there. You can also be a part of their online indexing service. I have found a few family members in my few years of indexing. because there are so many people helping with the indexing familysearch.org remains free to all and in some cases there are source papers added to the family members. There is an old saying "Try it you'll like it". Have fun researching

How can FamilySearch Get it So Wrong? How can FamilySearch just alter my family tree with spurious entries through sloppy research? Some of their additions are just plain wrong which doesn't exactly fill one with confidence!
