GBSTAY AWAY from this company STAY AWAY from this company! Their device "Spot GPS" does not work most of the time. We've tested it. Despite cancelling my subscription over a year ago, they did the following: 1) Billed my credit card 2) Charged an even higher amount 3) Never sent any notification 4) Never sent any receipt 5) Customer service was slow, they lied, they attempted to gaslight me, and finally begrudgingly refunded my money weeks later ONLY after I reported them for FRAUD to my credit card company. STAY AWAY! THere are better products out there.

CAPleased with the Spot X I am now on my second year of using the Spot X unit. I am amazed at the amount of negative reviews on Spot as I have not have issues with customer service, payment, texting, tracking, custom messages, etc. Unit has performed above expectations but yes, their is a steep learning curve and I think that is why it gets bad reviews. When I first bought the unit, I studied the manual and found various instructional videos online and it all came together. I am definitely pleased with the unit.

GBPoor customer service I was backpacking and attempted to send multiple messages out- they simply would not send- family members told me they never got them. Called SPOT to cancel my membership and they told me "I must not know how to use the phone". I followed the directions exactly and tried in multiple locations. Then came on here and saw the same kind of reviews. Not one to leave reviews- but I am concerned about the safety of others if this phone is not working. Also took me MONTHS to get this cancelled, they just continue to charge me.

GBTerrible customer service and zero Social Media Integration I ahve been using SPOT Gen 4 for 3 years now - the costs are high, monthly fee also has an added annual fee for no apparent reason plus there is a very expensive activation fee that appears to be for no good reason also. The GPS signal is fine is completely clear open areas (I am based in Scotland) but the slightest trees, thin forested area etc there is no GPS at all. However, the reason my group bought these was to take advantage of the link to Twitter so we could post automatically on twitter and parents could see their young person's progress on their expedition. Since we bought them we have always been unable to use this feature and every few months I ask when it will be fixed and get the same response - we have no timescales for when it will be working. When I complain I get the same response - sorry about that but can I help with anything else? Their customer service people don't care and are often rude on the live chat. I have started to move away from using them and buying other GPS tracker devices which do the same but without the terrible customer service and attitude. Wish I had never bought them!

GBThe concept of a Spot device is great, but.... The concept of a Spot device is great. People know where you are, you can send messages and get help if needed. There are several choices available in addition to Spot. I would strongly recommend InReach. From my personal experience there are several reasons. 1. Better messaging 2. Better pricing packages 3. No "ambush" auto renewal billing 4. Better and much more responsive customer service 5. Better user experience (ease of use, set up, reliability).
