NLSPOT should really change their pricing policies SPOT should really change their pricing policies, the auto renewel without any notice and the increased prices. There is a lack of and unclear communication online and through e-mail. This is so important especially when dealing with international customers where people might be used to different laws and rules. When i found out my credit card was debeted I called and SPOT did refund in the end, gladly. But this is just not the way to go. Also the service itself, i have been on places SPOT couldn't get out a SMS (usually in forests)... Gladly i didn't have to use the SOS service...

GBI wouldn't trust these conmen with my life. After trying for ages to find a way to cancel my account online, I could not. Then I emailed their deactivation email address. No response to the first email, second email was bounced with a "Recipient address rejected: Access denied." response. So they just don't want to deal with me, but they are still going to take my money. I've had to resort to cancelling my credit card as there's no other way to stop these cowboys from taking my money. Never using again.

GBUNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRELIABLE I’ve been using SPOT Gen3 and Tracker since 2013. Plain Tracker/Tracer for my Down Syndrome son - to keep tabs on him as he moved around on our 600 acre ranch in the Alaska wilderness. Worked ok for that need. I found an app called SPOT BUDDY which worked great since they use Apple Maps for our area and it was clearer than the google maps. The SPOT app is crap btw. SPOT GEN3 was ok but granted - we live in the boondocks and satellites/GPS coverage are not super. Many times folks/friends did not get my messages. They could track me on google maps and I used premade texts as to my whereabouts. Never had to use SOS or even Help from friends. The concept is ok but business practices are definitely shady and unprofessional. To second some of the negative reviews that go back to 2014: - Almost never answer texts on their website by or emails. I’ve only been able to get a human ONCE IN ALMOST 10 years. - Unexplained duplicate $40 charges on my card. When I FINALLY did get a person on the line they tried to barter and haggle with me… unprofessional 😩 Nevertheless I kept the service until I lost my SPOT3 on the Alaska range. Now it’s impossible to cancel my subscription bc they are either out of business or completely fraudulent. 😱 I might have to change my card if I see another charge on it. Looking for another GPS tracker that won’t break my wallet n or get a RockyTalkie radio. Frustrated in Alaska 2/2023

CAPleased with the Spot X I am now on my second year of using the Spot X unit. I am amazed at the amount of negative reviews on Spot as I have not have issues with customer service, payment, texting, tracking, custom messages, etc. Unit has performed above expectations but yes, their is a steep learning curve and I think that is why it gets bad reviews. When I first bought the unit, I studied the manual and found various instructional videos online and it all came together. I am definitely pleased with the unit.

GBThe concept of a Spot device is great, but.... The concept of a Spot device is great. People know where you are, you can send messages and get help if needed. There are several choices available in addition to Spot. I would strongly recommend InReach. From my personal experience there are several reasons. 1. Better messaging 2. Better pricing packages 3. No "ambush" auto renewal billing 4. Better and much more responsive customer service 5. Better user experience (ease of use, set up, reliability).
