The method just works! The 4 principles work great. Overall structure behind the app, just works wonderfully. Your relationship with money improves over period of time as you start seeing debt in a different light and see your net worth increase. Lastly, the great tutorial videos and blogs help clear any lingering doubts.

Love me some YNAB Love me some YNAB! Look, I know this can be a bit overwhelming to learn in the beginning and you’ll doubt the sanity of your decision to try the app and do some real adulting, but fear not! There are so many good videos explaining how to use it and the articles are on point! They are full of links to other articles and videos and it’s easy to navigate. The customer support has been the standout to me. I had some issues getting started and trying to figure out what to do to fix what I just did. The support team was very good and even made me a personalized video showing me step by step what to do! Amazing. Thanks YNAB team!

A decent replacement for Mvelopes A decent replacement for Mvelopes, which is why I chose it. (I like to have “extra” money left over in each budget category each month, so I have some in case the following month is unpredictable, and this was the only program where that seemed possible.) There are a few kinks/features I wish were possible. For example, I wish it were easier to focus on specific budget categories, and see reports on spending. (Ie, click a budget category, and see a register of expenditures and funding.) Also wish it were easier to have pre-set “funding plans” for a two paycheck month. Right now I have to fund each budget category manually for my first paycheck of the month, instead of having a template for half my budget. (It’s either all of nothing, if you want to fund several categories with one click, which makes it hard to do one paycheck at a time, vs an entire months budget.) There are definitely some features I wish were possible, but overall it functions decently for how I like to budget.

I do love this system I do love this system. Once you figure all the things, I think of this as an accountability tool that keeps me on plan but enables enough flexibility that I don’t feel any guilt when I’ve under-budgeted an expense (which happens less often now). And when those shoes start calling my name from inside the store? I now have a little something put aside that the spend doesn’t mean I’ll be dieting for the next two weeks, you know? Best thing I ever did.
