Good software, great customer support Software is good -- much better than the Epson software that came with my scanner (I have an Epson V700 and a V500 which I now use with VueScan). I am a novice with scanning, but use the software about 8 hours a week, on multiple scanners (the older Epsons previously mentioned and a Plustek 8300i) in a long-term effort to digitize my family photos, negatives, and documents. The software itself doesn't at first appear particularly flashy, but it is a good, versatile scanning tool with a ton of powerful features (different modes open up lots of different options). I particularly like the fact that you can skew the scans, which the Epson software doesn't allow. The software can also do Transparency mode (negatives/slides) assuming your scanner has a backlight. The customer support is really great as well. This morning, one of the updates had a bug or conflict specific to one of my scanners: I contacted help and in under an hour Ed had sent me a test version to see if it would fix the bug. It did, and will be rolled out in the next general update, but in the meantime I have a working beta version. I've never experienced that kind of support from a software company, so on that basis alone I would recommend the product/company.

I've been using VueScan since 2015 I've been using VueScan since 2015. I'm not extremely proficient at scanning terminology but in 2015 my scanner wouldn't work because of a "Twain" driver situation which VueScan solved for me. I think before VueScan I needed to install a driver and also scanning software. VueScan takes care of all of that and does it better. I recently had a very unusual scanning problem and VueScan provided great support and got it fixed. There are hundreds of scanner models, so VueScan is even more impressive because of the number it handles. I recently read an article that said, "VueScan has saved thousands of scanners from the electronics junk heap." I believe it.

I have been using VueScan for 20+… I have been using VueScan for 20+ years. I bought the professional version to help Ed as he started out. I have never been disappointed. The software has just kept improving over the years and works excellent. I use it for all my scanning needs: photo prints, negatives and slides. I have several scanners and it works great with all them. The software has tons of features, options and helpful workflows. I especially like filter features (IR clean, restore colors, restore fading, grain reduction). I have tried other software including the software that came with the scanner and other commercial software and not been as satisfied with the results. I can produce an image straight from Vuescan that does not require Photoshopping later. I am back scanning another batch of old negatives and have reaffirmed my satisfaction with Vuescan.

Vuescan has been an integral part of my… Vuescan has been an integral part of my business for years. As a professional photographer I count on the best scanners and software to do what I need daily. Vuescan is always updated and if there is a question, the response is quick. Thank you for making such a great product! Tom A

Great software for those who scan a lot I've been using ViewScan Professional for many years for many years (both for scanning sheets of paper and for scanning slides) and I intend to use it for many more! I've also installed it on some clients' machines. The main attractions of the software are: 1. It works on thousands of models of scanners, modern and old, and it is a great way to get the most from all of them while working with a consistent user interface. 2. It offers a huge range of features, supporting almost any feature built into a scanner (e.g. infrared pre-scan, sheet feeder) or even ones not built into the scanners in the first place such as multiple samples. These will probably only only be relevant to some people and only some of the time, but when you need the feature, you will be very grateful it is there! All in all, the great thing is that it's an "all in one" solution for all scanners, and is continuously being developed both in terms of adding new scanner models to the range and in terms of image processing features (for example, a recent feature is "hole punch removal" which does exactly what you imagine). On the downside, it's a big program, the interface is a little old fashioned, so there's a significant learning curve (particularly if you use it to scan colour negatives or slides). Therefore, it's probably not the software for the ocassional user, but if you scan regularly, and certainly if you scan a lot, this is the bees knees!
