About HMA VPN

The Web used to be a wild frontier that transcended geographical and political boundaries, and gave people anonymity and freedom. Anyone could go online to share ideas and access anything from anywhere. Now, the Web has become dangerously fragmented along country lines. Everything people do online is tracked, packaged, and sold, or used to control what they can see and do — with consequences that are becoming all too clear every day. HMA brings back online privacy so people can once again experience freedom on the Web. We’ve been around for a long time: We were one of the founders of this whole consumer VPN game. We make sure people can access what they want, from wherever they are, and stay private doing so.

Why I will not renew with HMA I've been an HMA user for a few years. Why ? First because of price, HMA beeing cheaper than others. Because the interface is easy. And that is all the positive. The negative list is longer. - Big mix up upon subscription that ended in double subscription. - Customer service selectively responds to questions. Anything controversial, for example about finances, is ignored. - If you want to use HMA to work around geographical blocs from other service providers (TV services for example) HMA DOESN'T WORK period. Their IPs get detected. - some of their IPs are extremely slow. I do not recommend HMA and personally I will not renew.

Easy to boot and no bloatware. I used a competitor and it started out fine but then they added more and more crap, constant updates and their two-factor authentication was a nightmare. A new neighbor suggested HMA so I tried it. Easy to use. I get to specify where in the U.S. I am connecting through and the connection process is easy. The connection for streaming is a little slow at times, particularly evenings. I'll have to wait until football season before you get the fifth star.

HideMYAss.com should be called "Snitch… HideMYAss.com should be called "Snitch On Your Ass". Lookup the case of Cody Kretsinger (LulzSec fiasco). It is clear from the indictment they were logging all of his activity despite their claim in their FAQs that states: "No activity of any kind is logged." I certainly don't condone the illegal hacking he or anyone else did but this event really reveals the truth about the company and the fact that their actions are completely contrary to their promises. "Actions speak louder than words", and this is a perfect example of why this idiom is so imperative.

No cancellation option Gave no option to cancel the free trial so I emailed on day 1 asking them to cancel it manually. Got charged for a year’s subscription on day 7. Ignored my emails for 3 months until Amex contacted them to dispute the charge. Luckily Amex refunded me without questions. And a few months later, I received an email from HMA asking me to review them, so thanks for the reminder! Would give zero stars if I could.

Stay away Omg!! They charge you but don’t deliver. I signed up as I needed it urgently, but despite paying, it still kept on saying no active subscription when logging in. Scam. I ended up buying elsewhere. Regret ever giving my details out to this (at best) amateurish biz or (at worst) fraudulent scam show.
