Wine is oxidized, vinegary I recently bought two bottles of Ridge 1988 Montebello Cabernet Sauvignon from the Wine Cellarage. I opened one to discover the wine tasted like vinegar; it did not taste anything like it was supposed to, and I fear the wine has oxidized. (I recently drank a bottle of the same vintage, purchased from the winery, and it tasted completely different.) Edit: The Wine Cellarage heard of my bad bottle and offered to allow me to return it. They sent me a UPS label and I was able to send it back for a refund. I'm sorry the wine was off, but Wine Cellarage had great customer service.

Best on line wine service - Wine Cellarage is my go to source online for fine wines and spirits. They offer unique and rare vintages as well as smaller artisan producers. I have purchased some of the best French Champagnes on the market as well as lovely cognacs - and wonderful Bordeaux. I would give them 5 stars but my only hesitation is the wine is packaged in styrofoam containers. If they used cardboard I would give them 10 stars.

Seamless I received a special offer on Champagne via email, saw something that caught my eye, ordered via the website, called to schedule the pickup. Simple as that. Truly an easy service.

disappointing order, decent follow up re same I ordered a magnum of '96 Leoville Poyferre for Christmas. While not tainted, the wine was thin and faded quickly after decanting. I contacted Wine Cellarage about the wine, and they provided (1) assurance that the wine had been properly sourced and stored (and was likely an unfortunate "dud"); and (2) a $50 bottle of wine by way of compensation for the disappointing Poyferre. I think that was a relatively decent approach, and I appreciated the responsiveness of their team.

Good Model Like your focus on featuring specific categories of wine with additional editorial content in your emails. This aligns with how I typically shop for wine/buy wine. Website also give me opportunity to shop differently (which is also good). Like having access to wines not often available from wine stores and/or reputable online wine sellers (e.g. champagne offerings) as I would not typically trust most online sellers. Have gotten bad bottles many times before (like the "cold storage" chain of custody idea that you discuss). Your checkout experience needs improvement (slow, hard to navigate, not integrated well with flow of shopping on the site) and pricing is sometimes a little bit high, but overall a great experience. Shipping is very professional and quick as well.
