Described as a new book, but is a used book The seller LibraryMercantile from Humble, TX, U.S.A. described the book as being new, but it is a used book. Being in good condition doesn't compensate for lying about what you're selling.

Bait and switch This is a terrible way to get books. I have only used it twice and as it turns out the second time will also be a negative experience. First I ordered an out of print book . Cost over 50 $. What I received was a trashy romance novel, used, in poor shape and not the book about Nazis in LA. now I atemted to order Percival Everett's book I am not Sidney Portier but when the order was complete it gave me some other title I was neither looking for nor attemted to order. I am really irritated. Every time they replace a high price item with something of considerably less value. Will never use them again. Use thriftbooks instead Always a good experience.

I ordered a new Lord of the Rings box… I ordered a new Lord of the Rings box set from AbeBooks (or one of its many retailers) for a birthday present. I was sent old prints with worn and torn covers (some of them taped back together), lots of underlining and markings and cheaply plastic wrapped. I wish I would have checked Trustpilot prior to ordering. Update as of 4/17/24: I did not have the same result as many of the other reviews I have read on here but I imagine that depends largely on the individual retailer contracted by AbeBooks. The retailer used by AbeBooks corrected my order and shipped me the new copies I had paid for. For that I changed my rating. I will still have to pay to return an incorrect order though so 4 stars seems appropriate.

A once Wonderful Bookseller No More. I had been buying hard-to-find books, books out of print, and books published by certain publishers. I was satisfied with the company. However, over several months, the quality of ABE Books has become abysmal. They have changed their GUI, and now it is impossible to contact anyone. They are painfully slow, and customer service has become nonexistent. They fail to vet their sellers like they once did; several sellers should be dismissed from the site. Evidently, I am in search of a quality book seller.

Still waiting for a book I ordered from… Still waiting for a book I ordered from Gold Books Austin Texas in February LAST YEAR to arrive, they just keep saying "I'll check and get back to you" they never do.
