GBGoing rapidly downhill Used to be a great site for passing the time, sharing memes etc. Now: an utter UX disaster. The new Recommended posts insert themselves into your dashboard right at the top - getting in the way of all the stuff you actually subscribe to. The recommendations are also completely inappropriate at times. I've lost count of the number of times I clicked "This Post particularly sucks" - Tumblr somehow finds a way to continue supplying content I dislike. The less said about the recent Oath policy requirements the better

CAI Do not recommend Tumblr to anyone I Do not recommend Tumblr to anyone. They have banned a number of blogs, NSFW content and are actively working to stifle free speech. Please use one of Tumblr's competitors instead. They no longer consider their community's best interest at heart because they prefer to pander to Oligarchs like Apple. Please use one of Tumblr's competitors (pillowfort, reddit, etc) for free speech and freedom of expression

PTUnquestionably Another Platform with Echo Chamber Censorship to Benefit Brainwashing Corporate Oligarchs Yahoo! has destroyed the artistic freedom in this platform and turned it into a regressive place that plays everything safe. So, there is no more adult content that artists made for expressing themselves. Users get banned for no reason because of dumb bots. They cannot retrieve their banned accounts' data. All of their pictures, comments, and textual posts get removed once those accounts get banned as a result. Which is why Tumblr has become a draconian witch hunt platform. There are people who have left Tumblr because their accounts get banned for no reason and they don't have the original amount of artistic freedom on it anymore. It has become a sad place with people walking on eggshells because of self-censorship.

GBThis is god awful Simply put, they've thrown the baby out with the Bathwater here. If they had a clear, clean way to properly police this and implement useful filtering or a way to block nsfw blogs, then fine. However they don't. I'm seeing countless blogs and posts flagged by their algorithm due to someone with an explicit flagged blog having reblogged the content... not due to the content itself. What makes this worse is there is no way to appeal this if it's a reblog.

GBNot what it once was! They were taken over by Yahoo who promised not to "screw it up", then changed their terms relating to adult content - purging many NSFW blogs, rather than tackling the same problems that face all social media platforms. Since then there's been an exodus of people who have abandoned the website.
