Worse than craigslist Expect 40+ spam bot notifications a day. If you report them, Tumblr management laughs in your face and does nothing to ban them. So you have 90% of the activity on the site literal spam bots and 10% snarky content farmers. It's not really much of an interactive community at all. Then there's the whole secondary blog thing with zero ability to comment as your secondary blog or follow others as your secondary blog. What's the point. The platform is rubbish. The management is rubbish. I wouldn't be shocked if all Tumblr was at this point in time is a laundering racket like Craigslist clearly is. This website and their trash phone app are a complete scam.

Not what it once was! They were taken over by Yahoo who promised not to "screw it up", then changed their terms relating to adult content - purging many NSFW blogs, rather than tackling the same problems that face all social media platforms. Since then there's been an exodus of people who have abandoned the website.

This is god awful Simply put, they've thrown the baby out with the Bathwater here. If they had a clear, clean way to properly police this and implement useful filtering or a way to block nsfw blogs, then fine. However they don't. I'm seeing countless blogs and posts flagged by their algorithm due to someone with an explicit flagged blog having reblogged the content... not due to the content itself. What makes this worse is there is no way to appeal this if it's a reblog.

Totally bad Totally bad. My account was exhorted because somebody raised DCMA complaints wihout any reason . The counter notification was rejected because it was NFSW content (without any other reason). That means that tumblr shut down your account any time, without checking if the guy requesting the DCMA complaint even holds the copyright. This means that your account can be shut down anytime without any reason, just because a troll is raising DCMA complaints. Whatever you do, don't signup on tumblr.

Going rapidly downhill Used to be a great site for passing the time, sharing memes etc. Now: an utter UX disaster. The new Recommended posts insert themselves into your dashboard right at the top - getting in the way of all the stuff you actually subscribe to. The recommendations are also completely inappropriate at times. I've lost count of the number of times I clicked "This Post particularly sucks" - Tumblr somehow finds a way to continue supplying content I dislike. The less said about the recent Oath policy requirements the better
