US"Activated", yet unprotected... After getting confirmation of being active and ready for protection, my pets recently set off a false alarm. That's when I find out I'm really not on the grid and the police was not called. On the one hand, it's good the pooch set the alarm off so I could realize I really wasn't being protected. Yet, the initial peace of mind I had went straight out the window, like my possessions with my recent burglary.

USCustomer Service A few days after my installation, my basement door went offline and I get notifications/calls from Protection 1, but they have yet to send a technician out to repair the issue. It's funny how Protection will work with you to schedule an installation (get your money), but when it comes to repairs.....I've been waiting for a few weeks.

USno integrity Phone reps promise but do not deliver. found out after 16 years of payments that my alarm was not actually being monitored called to cancel service and was assured my equipment was under warranty but they wouldn' fix it and required a discounted purchase of a new system

US23 years with this company (previously westinghouse) and I'm just fed up The technicians are poorly trained, and take hours to fiddle around and finally admit they don't know how to fix something. Second technician broke a parking gadget in my garage, moved stuff without permission, didn't fix the problem. Third tech fixed the problem, but declared my broken gadget "fixed" and now I have to fight the company for reimbursement. Terrible service, no refund/credit for my inconvenience (five + hours total) and broken parking gadget.

USReliable But Monitoring Is So Very Expensive. Lots of alarm companies offer monitoring, and their prices vary wildly. Although some are not credible or trustworthy, one can easily choose by doing some basic research, talking with neighbors, or by reading reviews like these. One thing I can count on Protection 1 for is regular rate increases. At this point i'm paying roughly twice what I would be paying with other reliable companies. I'm paying $32 a month now. And since they use a proprietary alarm system, it's not as simple as just switching monitoring services. Be warned... once you choose these guys your basically locked in to accept their rate increases and paying their high rates.
