GBCleaned surprisingly well I've used a commercial cleaner company in the past for cleaning our 5th wheel rv that we live in fulltime. But this time the cleaner raised their minimum for cleaning rvs to $200, & I only wanted to have 100 sq ft done. So, I rented a Rug Doctor at Walmart. The check out process is pretty straight forward, but the machine is heavy & bulky. I also rented the motorized upholstery tool & bought cleaner solution, & pre-treat solution.. I pre-treated the areas in front of our chairs where our feet leave stains & used the upholstery tool to clean the bad spots. This tool might be pretty useless for most people, as the solution jet nozzle plugs up easily. I removed the nozzle & blew it & the line out with an air compressor, which many people wouldn't have. It clogged several times & I could even see black pieces in the solution feed line. But overall, I was able to remove the dark stains & clean the larger areas in a couple of hours. It actually did a better job than I thought it would. It cleaned just as well as the commercial cleaners I've had do it in the past, & dried just as quickly. The machine & cleaner solutions were $75 vs the $200 for a commercial cleaner. So it was worth it & I will use it again in the future.

GBEasy to rent Easy to rent. Didn't like how you advertise $40 to rent but you have to pay $23 more for the solution. That put a big damper on our experience. The main Rug Doctor machine cleaned our carpets better than our last several carpet steam cleans with another machine AND with a professional company! Not 1000% perfect results, but we're going to use it again this month and see if it brightens up again a little more. Thank you for having an easy system so available everywhere!

GBAmazing cleaning but leaves soap residue behind, so beware! I rented one to clean some extremely filthy carpets in the flat that I’m selling. I also did the chairs and sofa. The machine did an incredible job of getting the dirt out, was absolutely amazed, but it doesn’t rinse the soap out as it cleans. I’d recommend booking an extra day so you can run it with just hot water in, I didn’t have time. As a result my carpets and the sofa are clean, but a bit patchy looking and when I went into the flat next day (I’d been running 2 dehumidifiers all night) the carpets were dry, but there was a lingering dirty soapy water smell. My machine also leaked and this got worse through the day, until it was pooling water. Because so many of these units leak, don’t put it on your car seat, sit it on plastic, in the boot, if you can. It’s also up to the customer to clean it before handing it back, so check underneath before you start, incase the previous rentee hasn’t bothered. I would rent one again, because it did a great job of getting the dirt out, but I’d run it twice, second time with water to rinse the soap out.

GBYeah, but meh! The Rug Doctor gets out surface dirt and stains in the short term, but it's bulky and cumbersome to use with mediocre lasting results. Cleaning my wall-to-wall carpets took serious muscle to maneuver the machine everywhere, even after reading the instructions. And while the rug looked cleaner at first, the musty smell returned within days. Renting and hauling from the store was also a hassle. So for a quick fix in between professional deep cleanings, I’d maybe use Rug Doctor again. But for a truly clean and lasting result, I still prefer to call the experts.
