If you open an account with them if you you try to do a direct deposit from another bank say Chase they will take 3-4 days to approve the account, then when chase tried to do the trial deposits because you have no money in the account Penfed will charge you an overdraft because normally the trial deposits are subtracted. NICE little Scam they have going on. Also mobile check deposits take 5 days to clear. My account was locked by their fraud team, I sent in my documents and its still locked filling a claim with the Consumer finance gov website since its been 3 business days and no resolve

PenFed is like the USO for your wallet PenFed has been there for me in tough times as a disabled veteran and I greatly appreciate them. They also have a policy and ethos of doing for others and helping those in need that I very much appreciate and respect. For those reasons I will always keep a flame burning at PenFed. But they also have great rates to offer for loans, credit cards and checking and savings accounts, and are very veteran friendly. They are very friendly for regular folks too and pop up on many a YouTuber's top five list of best credit unions in the country. Best financial institutions period. Highly recommend.

Very helpful Credit Union and people… Very helpful Credit Union and people can apply on line and get approved and don’t have to speak to a Customer Service rep, they are excellent. But you can do it on your own.
