GBbe aware of their iron fist in a velvet glove. Initially, I was pleased with Metromile. It was a young, dynamic company, offering a good service. However, it changed for the worst. I am 81 and leave alone in the heart of the Sequoias. Last year I had a major surgery and went to my friends in Long Island, NY. to recuperate. Before I left, I call Metromile and ask if it is OK to suspend my insurance for about seven months and reinstate it when I am back in California. I was told there is no problem, but no one took care to explain that my rates would go up. They increased everything: the base rate, per/mile rate, even an after 100 miles discount went up to 250 miles. They said I had to be treated as a new client. No explanation and no consideration. They lied, saying that it is also because the industry has increased rates. When I checked it out with Progressive and the 20-th century, I was told, no rates were increased in that period. Metromile is a good concept. However, be aware of their iron fist in a velvet glove. Yuri Spilny

GBOverpriced and inaccurate milage calc The MetroMile base rate (rate if you drive 0 miles) is more than most companies charge. They also inflate the milage you drove, the pulse devise consistently records more milage than my odometer. The final insult is that when I switched to another insurance company, Metromile is threatening to charge me for the pulse devices even though I returned them.

GBWatch out! I've been ghosted for months by them Was previously a fan, but they've become a joke throughout my claims process. They just straight up will not respond. Does anyone even work over there in their claims department??? Never had a worse customer experience at a large company. My claim was approved, and I was paid a portion but required a supplemental. Nobody responds to email or calls over there. They give me pointless replies every so often, but I've now been without my car for months.

GBI've been with metromile for over 3… I've been with metromile for over 3 years. Rates have only increased in small increments and even decreased at times. I have had 1 claim, and that's why they loose a star. I submitted everything online, received confirmation, etc. Their Web system never spoke to the claim system, so I had to call in and go over everything again with the phone agent (who was very friendly and helpful)

GBBOGUS CHARGES & FAULTY DEVICES Their pulse signal devices keep conveniently “losing their signal”, even when driving the device at least every 2–3 weeks, and they charge you a ridiculous “No Signal” charge. Speaking to customer support is absolutely pointless, as they give you a spiel about sending yet another new device before they'll reverse their bogus charges. It's insane that you're charged EXTRA even if you, for example, DON'T drive your vehicle.!!
